The Ghost
As I lay in bed, a typical night, I automatically feel a strange wind, just a cold front, I said to myself. It took me about 2 hours to fall asleep. At school the next day, there was a new kid. His name was Larry Rogues, and he was possibly by coincidence in all my classes. We became friends, mostly because he saved me from bullies. One day, he said I owed him and we were flashed to a place in the school, perhaps the locker room. It was the night for the senior dance. And the 2nd cutest girl in school, Stacy, was my date. Larry was getting stuffed into a cage by some jocks. I was hiding while the jocks threw firecrackers at him, a fire lit, and the jocks left. "JASON!!! HELP!!!" Larry screamed. I broke the chain and tried to help him, but he was nowhere to be found. I looked out of the cage, and there was Larry. He smirked at me and left. "Larry! I saved you didn't I?!" I yelled. And all I saw was white~ I woke up, walked to the gym, where the dance was being held, and I looked for Stacy. Stacy was looking worried as I walked towards her. Then Larry cut right in front of me, as if he walked right through me. "Looking for someone," Larry asked Stacy. "Yea, I had a date, but it looks like he hasn't shown up," she replied. "Well maybe I can dance with you," he told Stacy. I was angered, as I yelled, "Stacy! I'm right here! HELLO?!" They started dancing and walked right through me. I realized what had happened, as Larry have me his last smirk.

The Bad Dream
Story by: Lauren Ramirez
My boyfriend, Jacob, and I went to the Valentine's Day dance. We danced and danced. We had fun and we hung out with all of our single friends just so they wouldn't be alone. Afterwards I called my mom to ask if I could go over and stay a Jacob's house. She said ok. We were just laying in the bed talking and cuddling. We fell asleep. Suddenly Derek, a guy that likes me (more like he was obsessed with me), bursted in and captured us. He took us to an abandoned warehouse where he told us that if we didn't cooperate our families would die. After long hours of protesting we gave in. "This my love," Derek spit out with his usual, and creepy sounding, lisp, "is an injection that can make anyone immortal. I know what you're thinking," he said in a know-it-all tone while pacing in front of us,"'immortal? That's impossible!' Well, surprise! It isn't." He walked up to me first and injected it into my arm. It didn't hurts at first, but then it felt like there were bugs with razors for legs crawling under my skin. I started screaming and everything turned to black. I woke up to find my self in a room with a chair, a small metal table to the right of the chair, and three different cameras facing the chair. I had a bad feeling about this. Somewhere to my left a door opened and someone on the other side pushed Jacob into the room roughly. "Ok," said a voice loudly from a hidden speaker, "Layla, I want you to strap Jacob into the chair." "Go to hell!" I screamed in protest. "Now, now, Layla," Derek said to me as though you would to a dog, "I have the one thing can kill your precious boyfriend." He must have seen the surprise register in my face. "Oh, you thought that since you both were immortal that there wasn't a single thing that could kill you? There is something and I'm currently holding it in my hand, so do as a I say!" "I'm so sorry for this," I whispered to Jacob as I strapped him into the chair. "Now," Derek's booming voice said,"look on the table" I turned and gasped. I hadn't even noticed what was there. It was an assortment of knifes. Not kitchen knifes, these were razor sharp, the kind you would use for crafts and precision. I picked one up and plucked it's paper thin blade. I dropped the blade and stared in amazement at my thumb. I barely touched it and my thumb was covered in blood. That wasn't what surprised me though, I was healing. Within seconds the slice was gone, the only trace of if was the blood that had spilled off my finger. "Now you know what those sharp babies can do. Choose one, whichever one, and put it to your boyfriends arm. Start skinning him. Don't worry, it won't kill him." "If I do this we won't die. If I don't we will. It's going to be excruciatingly painful." "Do it," Jacob whispered back to me, his voice barely wavering. I put the blackest blade to his skin and began. Jacob's screams filled the warehouse. He screamed with every stroke. He screamed when my tears fell on his bare muscle. His blood went everywhere. He didn't pass out like I wanted him to. By the time I finished skinning him his voice was gone. At least he was already healing, then the pain would be over. The next day, actually for the next week, I would wake up to Jacob fully healed and be force to skin him again. The second week he could heal faster and I would be forced to skin him two, three, sometimes four times a day. Every time I skinned Jacob I could see the fear in his eyes. For the first couple times the fear was of Derek, after about three days he feared the pain. But the last couple times the fear I saw was fear of me. One day the routine changed. I woke up got ready to skin Jacob but then Derek came on the speaker. "Time for a little change up," Derek said enthusiastically,"Layla, your turn." He turned the speaker off. For the longest time it was just silence. Then Jacob spoke up. "We have to do this. He'll kill us both." I nodded my head as I climbed into the chair. After he strapped me in, he grabbed the blackest knife and started at my arm. Oh my god! The pain! It was worse than anything I've ever felt! I tried my best not to scream, so I wouldn't make Jacob feel even more guilty. I didn't start screaming until he was done with both my arms. When he started my stomach i passed out. I woke up the next day in my cell fully healed. I went to Jacobs cell to wake him up so we could get the day over with. I watched him as we ate our measly breakfast. He seemed different, like he wasn't scared anymore. He looked ...happier in a way. I wasn't scared of Jacob, not yet. The first couple times he skinned me I could see the desperation in his eyes. But eventually he grew to like it. He would laugh at my screams, take joy in seeing my tears. One night I stayed awake until I had fully healed. While Jacob was sleeping I ran. I had no clue where the warehouse was, but anywhere was better than here. I couldn't stay in the place where I was constantly tortured by a monster that looks like the boy I loved. I saw a street and started jogging along it, not knowing that I was being followed. A couple hours past, it was around 2am when I stopped to take a small break That's when I heard him. I turned around and I saw his face. The face of the wonderful guy I loved, the guy who no longer existed. I tried to run, to get away from the pure malice in his eyes, but he grabbed my arm. "Layla, don't leave me," he almost sounded like himself,"I love you." I stopped struggling, we hadn't said those words to each other yet. I looked him in the eyes, but I didn't see the kind, warm, brown eyes I expected. I saw cold, stone colored eyes that showed no emotion but hate. I got free of his grip and started running again, but I was still weak from earlier. He tackled me to the ground and straddled me. He pulled out a knife. It wasn't one of the ones that was on the tables everyday. This knife bigger, with jewels in the handle and I felt like it had its own aura. He then turned it to where the tip was pointed against my heart. "Remember how almost two months ago Derek told you that he had a 'magical' weapon that could kill us?" I nodded slowly, trying not to anger him. "This is it. I slipped one of the torture knifes into my pocket earlier. I went into Derek's office and slit his throat." He paused looking at the knife as a creepy grin slowly grew on his face, "He was so stupid to leave this knife out in plain sight in his desk," he said while twirling the knife in his fingers while chuckling and slightly shaking his head. "This knife will hurt worse than the other ones since it's made to kill us. I have to stab your heart to put you out of your misery, sorry my love." He pushed down on the knife and began to carve out my heart. The pain seemed to never end. He was right, this blade hurt worse than any of the other ones that he had used while I was in the chair. I was still conscious, sadly, when he finished cutting out my heart. He held it in his left hand, the dagger in his right. He drew his right hand back as though to stab my heart. Right before he could stab it he changed. Confusion showed in his face and disgust when he realized what's he was about to do. "I love you" he said as he drove the dagger into his own chest. I lost consciousness when he dropped my heart. "Wake up," someone whispered,"Layla you need to wake up." It was Jacob, but how? He was supposed to be dead. I opened my eyes and it was true, Jacob was alive. We were in his room. As though we had never left. I was happy, but then I remembered that he drove that dagger into his chest. I jumped away from him to the other side of the room. "Layla, what's wrong?" He asked, he seemed truly concerned. "You're supposed to be dead!" I yelled at him. "What?!" So I told him the story. I told him everything. About how I tortured him and he tortured me. How we were immortal, how he drove the only thing that could kill us into his chest. I told him that the dagger must have missed his heart. "Layla, it was all a dream. Come here." He threw the blanket off of him and got up. I screamed, then he smiled and kept walking towards me. I could see the hardness in his eyes just as well as I could see the blood on his shirt.
My grandpa had died about 4 years ago in the Philippines and my grandma about 5 years ago. My father told me that he keeps seeing her in his dreams when he starts to feel a choking sensation in his sleep. One night, he felt like he was being choked again and woke up still feeling like he couldn't breath. When he opened his eyes and looked in the corner he saw his mother. At first he thought he was still dreaming so he grabbed his phone and shined the light to where she was. She wasn't there...until he moved the light away again, and there she was again. He did this several times until he realized she was really there and started reaching out for her to help him but she just continued to watch him. Finally, she disappeared and when she did, the choking sensation went away.

Momma's Boy
Dad?
I had just got out my room for a drink of water and headed to the kitchen. As I was walking down the hall, I turned my head towards the kitchen and saw my dad hovering by the sink but before I entered, I looked farther down the hall. I saw my dad lifting weights in the living room. "Dad! How'd you get there so fast?!" "What do you mean?" "You were just in the kitchen!" "No I wasnt!" I looked again over at the kitchen and still saw a man who dressed just like my father hovering over the sink. I looked back at my dad in the living room. I trembling asked towards the living room, "....dad?" And he looked up and replied, "yeah?" Then I looked back at the kitchen and the man was gone. Suddenly, the hair on my arms and the back of my neck began to raise. "Dad, there was a man standing right at the sink! I thought it was you! He looked just like you from behind! A plaid shirt just like yours!" He enters the kitchen and his hairs start to raise as well. "That could have very well been your lolo (grandpa in Tagalog)."

Ealya
Story by: Luka I'Dell / @luka_james_gray
Our first concern was landing onto Ealya. Too bad that happened. The first thing or should I say things we saw when checking for signatures of life on Ealya was millions of extremely hot little heat signatures. We should have known that it was a bad idea. We should have but we over looked it, and look were that got us. I’m the only one left. The first group to go in never came out and that was the first sign. We ignored it. We killed those innocent men and women. WE DID. But that doesn’t matter now. I guess while spending the last little bit of my life writing this I should at the least tell you, reader, what happened. I, Joanna Speds and my 4 crew mates, Joe, William, Stacy and Ian of the “S. Creations” were spending our first days in space. We had spent 6 years training for this moment. NASA told us that once we were in the stars there was no time to be amazed. We couldn’t help it though. We were a group of kids from the age of 19- 22 and we were in space. It was truly incredible. We were in space to investigate the oncoming comet “Ealya” and if we thought that it was safe to land we would. The first thing we did was check for any significant landmarks or displacements. “It’s a comet, really. Nothing special.” Ian confessed. Ian didn’t talk much but when he did, it was important. Then there was Stacey. She was a polar opposite to Ian. Stacey was annoyingly loud and talkative and she NEVER knew when to shut up. And then then there is Joe and William. Joe is deaf and William is his translator. Although Joe is the one with the specialty in ship engineering and making, William was trained with us. Each of us were picked because we had a certain specialty in the project we were assigned to do. Joes the engineer. Stacey the Expert in drilling and the collection of extra-terrestrial sources (basically she collects rocks and dirt). Me and Ian are the best in the world at guessing and calculating extra-terrestrial and alien behaviour and moves. Back in 2008 NASA found a crashed UFO containing three very live aliens we call Yarla’s. That’s Ian and I first met. They picked us because they had been keeping an eye on many kids that they thought had a future in spacy type things. Apparently, we had showed many signs saying that we would be good at that. I always planned to be a phycologist when I was younger so that is a huge part of why I am good at reading Alien’s behaviour. Ian is the same. Together we were the “Saviour’s”. Oh god they were wrong. The first group that went to Ealya never came back. No one, not even NASA knows why. That’s exactly what NASA will think will think for us. They will know nothing. When we went up to look at Ealya NASA sent a team up with us to do the dirty work for us. We would stay in the space station and they would go down to Ealya and check it out and collect samples for us. When they all disappeared within a second that’s when things became concerning. We sent them down to that comet KNOWING about the heat signatures but we didn’t tell them. I don’t know why. And that’s why they died and that is how we died. We were careless. We were talking to them one second and then we heard static. Just static. NASA said once we were up next to the comet there was no coming back. We went down onto the comet and the first things we saw were just trails of blood leading from were the other group landed to over the hill right next to us. Curious, we started walking to where we thought our group was. They weren’t there. But there was something. It was… It was… An alien. Holding up the heat signature device the thousands of specs all merged into one. The alien before us. Its huge mouth stretched wide as it gobbled up our team mates. Joe, William, Ian, Stacey and I stood there start struck. That’s when he noticed us. Because of FUCKING STACEY. She screamed and the alien turned around. It saw us. We were seen. Ian and I turned around and ran faster than anyone else in the world. Stacey stood in place. She was ripped apart, flesh torn straight off her body. Oh god it was horrible. Joe was next, and then William. Now it’s just me and Ian. Knowing that its slithering after us we climbed quickly into the shuttle we got onto the comet in. Ian stubbled and lost his grip, sending him into the aliens reach. He too was devoured and it was all my fault. If I haven’t of sent that first group in we wouldn’t be here. Oh god. I locked the door behind me and it cant get it. Yet. And now I’m writing this. I’m gonna die and I want the next people to come here to know our fate. She won’t get this but tell my mum, mummy, that I love her.
Julie lived in a small town where nothing ever really happened. Nearly everyone knew one another and the surrounding lands were flat, grass fields. Thus, there was very little for Julie, who was only ten, to explore. The one source of excitement in Julie's life was the train that would go by every Thursday at noon. She loved to watch the train pass. The loud noise, the colourful pictures and words painted on its side, and the speed! Oh how quickly the train moved compared to life in her small town. On some days she would pack a lunch and skip morning classes to watch the train, which is what she chose to do on this particular day. Something was different though, for as Julie got closer she noticed a little girl in a white dress skipping rope on the train tracks. Julie called for the little girl to come down knowing how easy It could be for the girl's small foot to get caught between the planks, but the little girl just kept on jumping. As Julie got closer she heard the girl's soft tinkling voice singing, "one two three, one two three." Julie came up the small hill to the train tracks and told the little girl again to come down, but the little girl ignored her and kept skipping, continually singing, "one two three, one two three." Julie sighed and sat down to the side, the little girl would have to come down eventually. She sat and watched the little girl skip, moving closer every few minutes. It does look like fun she noted. She then saw a second rope right beside the track. She shyly asked the little girl if she might try too. The little girl smiled and nodded while still skipping and singing, "one two three, one two three." Julie picked up the rope and began to skip alongside the little girl, both of them now singing, "one two three, one two three," in perfect rhythm. Suddenly Julie felt her foot slide between the boards of the track. She tried to pull her foot out but to no use. She noted that her foot should come out if someone were to push the board just the slightest bit, she would be able to slide it out easily. Julie looked up at the little girl and said, "please help! My foot is stuck in the boards and the train is coming soon. The little girl seemed to not hear her and continued her skipping and singing. Julie began to panic, yelling at the little girl to help. The girl in the white dress never slowed and never faltered, never cracked that perfect little smile. The sound of the train whistle fast approaching sent a shiver of fear through Julie's body. She began sobbing and screaming at the little girl for help. She watched the girl speed up now chanting, "one two three, one two three," faster and faster until she stopped suddenly, ripped the rope from Julie's hands and hopped delicately off the track. That's when Julie knew it was too late. ------ Any passerby at that moment would have seen a little girl in a white dress, holding two skipping ropes, watch the train pass, and then, when it was gone, she hopped up onto the track, placed one skipping rope carefully beside the track and began skipping and singing, "one two three four, one two three four."

I went to my friend hectors house and knocked but I top ended before I knock. I asked his mom where he was she said "The Box". I walked away quietly and went upstairs. And saw a odd box. I couldn't open it and it had a horrible smell. I then heard laughter and saw nobody. Then his phone buzzed and it had a text from his mom that said "finished shopping, coming back". I the remembered his baseball bat in his closet. I smashed open the box and you believe what i saw in there.
Everything is Darkness Now
Story by: Stella Chen
My fingers lined over my bruised knuckles as I clutched my arm near my chest. I sucked in my breath; I had to conserve my short breaths for the final part. I walked over the gray clouds, dampened with rain. I quickened my pace, my breaths coming in ragged grunts. I had to make it. I knew it was a mistake to come here. My friends, neighbors, and family's hushed whispers warded me off for long enough. Their voices were echoing throughout my mind to and fro, so I had to "silence them". I couldn't go back to the overworld even if I wanted to. My skin would crack open and my bones would collapse. In my dazed gaze I saw the pearly gates. My heart pounded into my head. As I continued my walk, shuddering moans came from all angles from dead martyrs. My lips turned blue as my skin began to rot. Coming this close to heaven's gate would result in death now. Finally, God appeared in front of me. His wandering gaze looking over me. "You've come a long way." I chuckled, brushing the hair out of my face. "I'm here just for one request. It's too late to go back to earth, and the only place I can go is here. Please, I'm begging you. Forgive me for my sins." He laughed, a sinister malicious sound. "Ive abandoned your kind a long time ago. But I will let the thing behind you take you to whatever depths of the void it comes from." The stench hit my nose as I began to retch. Long burnt fingers traced over my neck and grabbed me from behind.
